Before the Sun Rises: Dawn Market in Hong Kong

Dawn markets are no ordinary markets. Since Hong Kong law prohibits unlicensed hawkers, these hawkers – mostly retired elderly, who can’t live off their small pension – only come out on the streets in the early morning to avoid being caught by the Hawker Control Team.

There are a few dawn markets scattered across different districts, but all footage used in this video were from the Kwun Tong dawn market.
