ComplexCon is a colossal cultural event in the United States. This year’s iteration was held outside the United States for the first time at AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong from 21 to 23 March, 2025. The highlight of ComplexCon 2025 was the performances by popular musicians, such as NJZ, Zico, and DJ Metro Boomin. The trendy market has gathered over a hundred brands, arousing social attention.
Despite the concert commencing in the evening, many audiences had already lined up in the morning, or even at midnight, to purchase products in the market and get the best view of the concert. Mr. Chan, who had been waiting in line for 16 hours and held the first position, stated, “I’m a fan of NJZ, and I noticed they just released a new product. Since it’s a limited edition, I want to make sure I can purchase it.”

“Future Relics” with Diversity Surroundings ComplexCon 3025
This year’s ComplexCon is directed by contemporary creative artist Daniel Arsham, who will bring new works and limited exclusive product series. He reinterpreted the ComplexCon 2025 theme logo in his famous “Future Relics” style and changed the year to 3025.
Taby, one of the crew of the ComplexCon 2025, compared previous event iterations. “The ComplexCon 2025 is full of the atmosphere of the future and technology, which differs from the last few years,” said Taby.
Taby added that her work in ComplexCon 2025 was busier than previous ones. She considered it more diverse this year because the performers from multiple countries brought different genres of trendy songs to the audiences, such as American pop, Canton pop, and especially K-pop, attracting more people to visit.
First and Last Performance of NJZ
NJZ, formerly NewJeans, had their first performance on March 23 at ComplexCon after rebranding. The agency ADOR has filed injunctions to prevent NJZ from releasing or promoting new music without their consent. NewJeans departed from ADOR in November 2024, citing mistreatment, and rebranded as NJZ in February 2025.

P, a fan of the NJZ from Australia, travelled to Hong Kong specifically to meet the NJZ and expressed his excitement. “NJZ has suffered from different challenges in the past. So, this is my first time to participate in the NJZ concert. I am so happy to see everyone wearing the NJZ’s accessories and gathering together at the AsiaWorld-Expo,” he said.
Nevertheless, the court ruled that NewJeans belonged to ADOR and could not operate independently on 21 March. Therefore, NJZ announced that they would temporarily stop all activities after performing their new song “Pit Stop” in the ComplexCon on 23 March. Minji, one of the members of NJZ said, “It is really hard for us to say that. But this might be our last performance for a little while. Out of respect for the court’s decision, we have decided to pause all our activities from now, and it wasn’t an easy decision.”
