At the centre of the venue, visitors can feast their eyes on themed and carefully designed landscape displays and exhibits. The colourful and diverse floral seascape is a result of meticulous planning and design, with each garden landscape and floral arrangement showcasing the creativity and artistry of the designers. The gardens are filled with Angelonia flowers known for their small and delicate blooms, abundant quantity, and vibrant colours. The exhibition also includes garden plots and plants on both sides of the venue for visitors to explore and appreciate.

Another highlight of the flower show is a 5-minute light show, held every evening at 7:30 PM, 8:00 PM, and 8:30 PM. In a creative display, a series of three-dimensional light sculptures have been projected onto themed flower walls and tulip displays, accompanied by lighthearted music.

The local residents as well as tourists have shown great interest in the exhibition. The flow of people is continuous even on weekdays. The visitors come from diverse age groups and nationalities, including elderly individuals, mothers with children, and photography enthusiasts. Many visitors can be seen taking photos from their favorite angles, while some solo visitors use selfie devices to capture pictures.

Visitors who are drawn to the flower show express their contentment, stating that it is an excellent location to relax and boost their spirits. “The flower show is truly beautiful and unique, and it didn’t disappoint me.  The combination of lights, music, and the floral wall creates a whole new experience for me, bringing a different ambiance under the night sky,” shared Ms. Wang, a 30-year-old visitor from mainland China who discovered the flower show while exploring Causeway Bay.

Sophie, a 40-year-old woman from France who has been residing in Hong Kong for five years, said, “I find this place peaceful and enjoyable, and I really love it. We missed out on many opportunities like this due to the pandemic. Everything here feels serene—the flowers, fragrance, and ambiance—except for the crowds. “

When I encounter something unpleasant, like I did today, taking a leisurely walk here uplifts my mood.

Since the year 2000, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department has been organizing the annual Flower Show at Victoria Park in Hong Kong every mid-March. Each year, it attracts over 200 local, mainland, and overseas gardening organizations to participate. The exhibition draws hundreds of thousands of visitors annually. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Hong Kong, the flower show was suspended from 2020 to 2022, with no exhibitions held during those years.

Local residents who visit the exhibition every year have higher expectations for novelty and uniqueness. “I think this year’s flower show is quite similar to last year, nothing particularly new. There are too many people visiting, and I couldn’t find a spot to set up my tripod. The weather is also not ideal, so I couldn’t capture exceptionally beautiful photos,” said Mr. Lim, a 65-year-old photography enthusiast who visits the exhibition every year to capture photos.

However, I’ve observed a noticeable increase in the diversity of attendees at the flower show compared to last year. It’s been pleasant to witness a mix of local residents, mainland tourists, and even domestic helpers enjoying the event.
