Tamar Park in Admiralty will be transformed into an interactive wonderland as the internationally renowned art collective, TeamLab unveils “Continuous”, an extraordinary pop-up exhibition set to captivate the city from March 25th to June 2nd, 2024. Over 200 colossal egg-shaped objects, some towering at five metres tall, nesting along the park’s landscape and extending to the waterfront, creating an immersive environment that responds to forces of nature and human interaction.

“Continuous” invites the public into a playful world where these giant eggs react to human touch and ambient music, shifting in a kaleidoscope of colours that illuminate the park. This innovative and engaging installation is a highlight of The Leisure and Cultural Services Department’s “Art@Harbour 2024” initiative, which aims to draw visitors to Hong Kong with a series of outdoor art installations near victoria harbour. By blending art, science, and technology, the initiative seeks to provide new inspirational and sensory experiences along the iconic harbourfront.
“We were just walking along the harbour and these egg-like structures caught our eyes.” remarks Chloe Wang, a 24 years old tourist from mainland China who was travelling with her group of friends.
“Even without the lights on, the surreality of the eggs really makes it pop against the scenery.”
Once illuminated, these ovoid structures can undergo captivating transformations in colour as they are nudged by the gentle push of waves, the caress of the wind, or the touch of visitors, generating a symphony of light. The installation not only invites the public to become an active element of the display, but also fosters a unique connection between the artwork, its audience, and the surrounding environment.
“For old people like me I think the installation is very fresh and modern.” says a 60 years old security staff member who requested anonymously.
“I was here during the dress rehearsal when they lit up the opioids. The display was beautiful, and futuristic. I believe it’s something that both the older and younger generations would appreciate.”

This exhibition also marks TeamLab’s much anticipated return to Hong Kong after their exhibition at Future Park Megabox concluded in January this year. Known as “ultra-technologists”, the artists, programmers, engineers, CG animators, mathematicians, and architects behind TeamLab have been redefining the boundaries of digital art since their formation in 2001. Their ability to harmonise the digital with the physical world results in immersive experiences that resonate deeply with audiences globally.
Hellen Wong, a corporate employee from Wanchai and an avid TeamLab follower, expressed her excitement. “I am a great fan of Teamlab and have been to their exhibitions in Tokyo, Singapore, and Shenzhen so I am excited to see their exhibition in Hong Kong.” says the 48 year-old who visited the installation after work.
“The event hasn’t started yet but I am here already just in case it gets crowded later.”
The installation’s reservations for close-up interactions are already full for the first week. The government anticipates that TeamLab’s artistic venture, alongside other exhibitions under the Art@Harbour umbrella, will draw a crowd in excess of 2 million to Victoria Harbour. As Tamar Park transforms, it awaits the influx of spectators ready to engage with the art that reaches out to them, promising an experience that’s as dynamic and vibrant as the city of Hong Kong itself.
The event will run from March 25th to June 2nd, 2024. Lights will turn on every night from 6:30pm to 11:00pm. Admission is free. For those wishing to have an up-close experience with the installations, booking in advance is necessary.
