Hong Kong Brands Join the April Fools’ Day Fun

April 1, 2026, marks April Fools’ Day. People often pull pranks, and some companies and media outlets publish seemingly believable stories to spark buzz. In Hong Kong, many food and beverage brands join in with exaggerated concepts, novelty flavors, or limited-time deals, turning the holiday into creative campaigns that drive foot traffic and social sharing.

IKEA: Coriander and Tofu Sundae Cone with Century Egg–Flavored Crisps

Hong Kong IKEA also released an April Fools’ limited edition: a Coriander and Tofu Sundae Cone with Century Egg–flavored Crisps (芫茜豆腐皮蛋味). It features a coriander-tofu base topped with century egg–flavored crunchy bits, priced at HK$9.9. Coriander fan Ms Li said it was “acceptable,” adding that it “tastes like a fruit-and-vegetable juice, mainly coriander.” The flavor was launched in limited quantities and is available while supplies last.

NAP TEA: 10cm Extra-Thick Milk Foam

NAP TEA (再睡5分鐘), a modern tea brand founded by Taiwanese YouTuber 滴妹and her team, opened in Hong Kong in 2025 and is known for its signature 3cm-thick milk foam. On April Fools’ Day (April 1) in 2026, the brand launched a one-day limited drink, “Quilt Oolong Green” (棉胎午茉綠), featuring an extra-thick 10cm foam cap, described as “thicker than a quilt.” The drink is priced at HK$41 and is available across all NAP TEA stores for one day only.

Café de Coral: HK$12 Drumstick Takeaway Deal

Local fast-food chain Café de Coral (大家樂) rolled out a limited takeaway deal around April Fools’ Day. From March 31 to April 1, 2026, customers could purchase either a crispy fried drumstick or a soy sauce drumstick for HK$12 (regular price: HK$25), while stocks lasted. The offer is takeaway pick-up only, not available via delivery platforms, and does not require any additional purchase. “We’ve seen noticeably more people during afternoon tea hours — many come specifically for the drumsticks. The price is very attractive, and once it’s sold out, it’s gone,” said Mr Yu, a Café de Coral staff member.

Pizza Hut: Free Pineapple Topping on All Dine-In Pizzas Citywide

Pizza Hut turned the long-running “pineapple on pizza” debate into an April Fools’ gimmick, promoting it with the line: “Whether you like it or not, we’re adding it anyway.” On April 1, dine-in customers at all locations could get free pineapple topping on any pizza, with the brand encouraging people to bring along friends who “hate pineapple pizza” to fuel the joke and the conversation.

Wingman: “Dad’s Stinky Socks” Wings Pop-Up in Central

Wingman, a Hong Kong restaurant brand specializing in chicken wings, introduced a new April Fools’ flavor called “Dad’s Stinky Socks” wings. The brand said the actual taste is cheesy and garlicky. The flavor was available only on April 1 at its Central branch, and the brand suggested buying it to prank friends.
