The Lunar New Year flower market returns for the first time since COVID 2019, running in 15 Hong Kong locations from February 4th to February 10th. It has been a long awaited return of the flower market, and both vendors and customers seem to be revelling at its return.
It’s just so nice to be back. It is lovely to see customers again and the social media reportage has been massive this year. This has really helped sales and business go well.”

In speaking of his stall (shown below), Wong said,“Our shop has a lot of history here, and it is so lovely to see returning customers who think our flowers are beautiful.”

Hong Kong’s Food and Hygiene Department has also introduced a new system to monitor the crowds at the various markets around Hong Kong. The new visitor flow map gives customers an insight into how busy the markets are and allows for an improved experience in the Lunar New Year flower markets.

On the new government system, Kenny Wong said,“It is working really well. It makes it easier for customers to come and enjoy the flower market when it’s less busy, and aids with monitoring congestion, which makes it a more enjoyable experience for everyone involved.”

The Victoria Park flower market is the largest of the 15 flower markets located across the city, and is not just for flowers. Vendors are also feeding the masses with a selection of fast foods to enjoy as one walks around the market. Toy stalls also feature, helping keep the youth entertained amid this colourful expedition of Hong Kong’s finest flowers.
