Villain Hitting On Valentine’s Day
POSTED ON
For Valentine’s Day, fellow reporter Teele Rebane and I decided to go into the ancient
tradition of da siu yan (or villain hitting) in Hong Kong. During this time of the year,
people use these spells for romantic issues, but villain hitting goes beyond love-related
dramas.
We tried to ask some of the people we met to share who they were cursing (and why). Yet,
they did not want to reveal their identities and motives.
However, if you are ever in Wan Chai with ten minutes to spare, you can always consider
going underneath the Canal Road Flyover to experience first-hand this interesting
Chinese tradition.
