About

Shroffed is a digital news platform catering primarily to young Hong Kongers. A shroff typically refers to a car park cashier in East Asia or a money changer in South Asia, and the nomenclature of Shroffed speaks to its regionally characteristic news focus.
Shroffed is administered by a group of journalism students at the University of Hong Kong, who hand-pick and bring to life stories covering interesting and trending topics in contemporary Hong Kong society, ranging from serious socio-political issues to light infotainment bites. Managing and contributing to the website is an assignment for their JMSC2003 course.
The Shroffed team seeks to pivot its journalistic appeal in an unique way, presenting news in a manner informed by today’s ever-evolving cyber culture, which places tremendous emphasis on multimedia delivery, lively language, and experimentation with state-of-the-art technology.
